Paint Correction Services in Wilmington

Have you looked at your paint and saw a ton of swirl marks and scratches? These are what hinder your paint from shining?

How did they get there in the first place? The biggest culprit is usually a case of improper washing/drying methods. Automatic car washes use brushes that pick up dirt and rocks from previous vehicles. Even using low-quality towels can be abrasive, leaving imperfections in the paint.

We have two levels of paint correction:

Our Level 1 Paint Correction is our one-step paint polish service. We decontaminate your paint, then we polish it to bring back the shine and remove light scratches.

Our Level 2 Paint Correction service is our two-step paint correction process aimed to remove around 80% of the swirls, scratches, and imperfections. We use a cutting compound to ”level out” the scratches, then a polish to restore gloss and clarity to your paint.

Our Paint Correction Processes

1

Clean wheels, tires, and fenders and undercarriage

2

Thorough hand wash, including door jambs, gas cap, and bugs

3

Clay bar to decontaminate your paint (it will be really smooth)

4

Tape off sensitive sections like plastic trim or rubber seals.

5

Step One: Compound/Correction (Only in Level 2)

Safely remove a majority of swirls and scratches from with a machine polisher and compound.

6

Step Two: Polishing Paint

(Level 1 and 2)

This will increase shine and clarity polishing the micro-scratches left behind from the compound phase.

7

Dress tires to make them shine (no tire dressing will fling off tires)

8

Apply sealant on the paint and ceramic coating to restore plastic trim

Clean exterior and interior glass and windows

9

Depending on the condition of your paint, some scratches won’t come out all the way. It could be the scratches are way too deep to remove safely.

This is where our judgement comes in. If the paint/clear coat is too thin, we will make the judgement call on what we can safely remove from the paint during the compounding stage. (We will take paint measurements before we start)

Even newer vehicles might need a paint correction. Although it’s brand new, the paint may have not been cared for properly when being transported or while at the dealership.

The Level 2 Paint Correction is a commitment to the vehicle, and would have to be properly maintained after the service. If it’s not properly maintained, swirls and scratches can be put back into the paint.

If you’re selling your vehicle and want to prep the paint for potential buyers, our Level 1 Polishing is a great option.

Paint Correction FAQs

What's the difference between a One Step and a Two Step paint correction?

Our Level 1 Paint Correction includes only a one-step polishing. This is for minor swirls and scratches.

Our Level 2 Paint Correction includes the two step process. This is both a compound and Polish. This is for deeper swirls and scratches.

Will my car look brand new?

The goal of the Level 2 paint correction is to remove around 80% of the scratches. Polishing won’t get rid of rock chips.

Do you need access to water & power?

Yes, we do. We also need access to the vehicle and enough room to work comfortably.

How long do the results last?

After the paint is corrected, maintenance is important. Going back to the automatic car wash can reintroduce scratching and swirl marks in your newly corrected paint.

It’s important to use proper wash and dry methods.

Do you come to me?

Yes, we can perform the wash at your home. We service Wilmington, Leland, Boiling Spring Lakes, Southport, Oak Island, and St. James.

What’s the difference between wax and paint correction?

A wax does not REMOVE any swirls or scratches. It adds a protective layer that only hides the very light swirls. Paint correction actually removes the swirls in your paint.

Waxing is a quicker process, paint correction is time/energy consuming.

It can usually take a full day or more, for a full paint correction
